Clovis, CA welcomes the completion and gala Grand
Opening of the newest state-of-the-art movie
megaplex—the Criterion Stadium 16 Cinemas at Sierra
Vista Mall, located in the heart of Clovis at the
Sierra Vista Mall at the corner of Shaw and Sierra
Vista Parkway. The Criterion Stadium 16 Cinemas at
Sierra Vista Mall is at the leading edge of theatre
design, offering moviegoers the finest customer
amenities and the most dynamic screen presentation
available, along with a greater choice of films and
viewing times.
The central location of the new mega-plex in Clovis
provides easy access for all Clovis / Fresno area
communities. With a wide variety of restaurants and
fine shops, Sierra Vista Mall offers people a
quaint, picturesque, and family friendly atmosphere.
Free parking surrounds the theatre offering easy
access to all the amenities it has to offer.
The Criterion Theatre is easy to spot, with its
beautiful sign tower and modern art-deco design. Our
full-service snack bar, spanning the entire lobby
will be open serving the finest in movie snacks such
as fresh, hot popcorn, ice-cold Pepsi products,
nachos, hot dogs, ice cream, and premium candies.
The box office offers four ticketing windows
providing quick access to tickets and virtually no
waiting to buy tickets. Once inside, patrons will be
amazed by the luxurious surroundings in the lobby:
vaulted ceilings and unique architecture.
Customers will enjoy our spacious auditoriums
featuring the latest in contemporary lighting and
art-deco wall decor. With nearly 3000 seats,
auditoriums range in size from a comfortable 125
seats to three large 300 seat auditoriums.
Each premier auditorium is equipped with giant,
wall-to-wall, curved screens for optimum viewing.
These are, by far, some of the largest screens in
the area. The Criterion Theatre is fully
handicapped-accessible and features special headsets
for the hearing impaired. Special “Booster Buddy”
seats offer small children an even better view of
the screen. Wide aisles and lift-up armrests
accommodate those with special needs.
All auditoriums in the Criterion Theatre feature
stadium style seating. Each row of seating only
rises to the middle of the row behind it assuring a
comfortable, unobstructed view. Every seat in the
house is a good one! In addition, all seats are
custom designed deluxe recliner rockers—some of the
first to be installed in Stadium Theatres of this
type--featuring airline-style, high backs and lumbar
support. For a truly shared experience, all seats
have a retractable armrest for conversion to a “love
seat,” with a second cup holder below.

Sound
When you sit down to watch a movie at the new
Criterion Theatre, you can rest assured that you
will experience the finest in sight and sound. Over
$1 million was spent to provide top-notch projection
(Kinoton projectors from Germany) and sound
equipment (Klipsch Audio) to ensure the finest
presentation available today. The Criterion Stadium
16 Cinemas complex, the most state-of-the-art
megaplex in the area, features luxurious
auditoriums, Digital sound systems, wall-to-wall
screens, and all stadium seating.
Dolby Digital Sound Systems
First introduced to moviegoers in 1992 with Batman
Returns, and heard on almost a thousand films around
the world since then, Dolby Digital is the latest
sound innovation from Dolby Laboratories. Today’s
Dolby Digital system provides six channels of
crystal clear digital surround sound. Left, center
and right channels in front of you provide precise,
clear positioning of dialogue. Separate or
“discrete” left and right surround channels on the
side and in the rear immerse you in the film with
atmospheric and ambient sounds. A subwoofer/bass
effects channel contributes extra punch to action
and special effects sequences. All theatres are
equipped with the latest in Dolby Digital sound.
