Fresno, CA - July 13, 2009 - Restaurateur David Borunda has been chosen as the recipient of the 2009 Businessman of the Year Award by the Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The Businessman of the Year Award honors a distinguished business person who has been an example for others to follow.

David Borunda established Plaza Ventana in 1977, which offers family dining at family prices. For over 30 years Plaza Ventana has been serving "MEXICAN FOOD WITH A PASSION" in Fresno. Plaza Ventana is the most awarded restaurant in Fresno and is consistently voted the "Best Mexican Food". The Peoples Choice is one of the most prestigious awards Plaza Ventana has received because the public votes and selects the winner. "David Borunda is one of the founding members of the Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and has served on its Board of Directors. In fact, the chamber was founded in his restaurant in 1983. David has also been active in his community by serving on the board of the California Restaurant Association of Fresno and as a member of CCHCC Toastmasters," said Jose Plascencia, President of the Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

"I've known David for quite sometime and have benefited from his wisdom during my tenure as President of the CCHCC. He was on the board at the time and played a pivotal role in changing the trajectory of the chamber to where it is today. He has been in business for more than 30 years and has been very successful. He is an example that others should follow," said John Hernandez, Executive Director of the Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The 2009 Businessman of the Year Award will be given to David Borunda at the 21st Central California Business Expo during the luncheon set for 12pm.
