Concert Tour “Las
Californias” in Fresno

The Consulate of Mexico in
Fresno, California, has the pleasure of presenting the “Youth and
Children Cedros – Universidad Panamericana Symphony Orchestra” on May
2nd, 2008, at 19:30. This performance will take place at the newly
refurbished Rotary Amphitheatre in Woodward Park, Fresno, and it is part
of a tour called “Las Californias” which will include concerts in
Tijuana, San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco, from April 25 to May
6.
This orchestra from Mexico City, of more than 80 musicians ages 8
through 20, recently performed for President Calderón. In Fresno, the
orchestra will perform a selected repertoire of classical music and jazz
from Latin-American composers. The last piece, José Pablo Moncayo’s “Huapango”,
will be performed along with the “Youth Orchestras of the Fresno
Philharmonic Orchestra”.
This concert was made possible thanks to the support of The City of
Fresno and the sponsorship of organizations such as Wells Fargo Bank,
Univision Channel 21, Univision Radio, Fresno Art Museum, the College of
Arts and Humanities, California State University Fresno and Fresno
Piano.
